Aqualung MEER LW — High-Capability CA-EBS (Maritime Emergency Egress Rescue)

ESP is an Aqualung Military & Professional U.S. partner.

CA-EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System) equipment supports aircrew and passengers who must egress a ditched aircraft underwater. Aqualung Military & Professional presents MEER (Maritime Emergency Egress Rescue) as its lightest and most compact CA-EBS—next-generation egress technology engineered for demanding environments and optimized for ease of use in an emergency (per public product page).

ESP publishes this page as a technical orientation for ALSE managers and program teams evaluating a higher-capability CA-EBS architecture. For most Survival Egress Air needs, ESP’s primary lead / workhorse remains SEA 3000 LV2. Final configuration selection and any agency or airworthiness approvals remain with the responsible program office. OEM product availability is not the same as agency configuration approval.

Primary SEA lead (start here for most SEA needs)

SEA 3000 LV2 is ESP’s primary lead Survival Egress Air product—the workhorse recommendation for most compressed-air underwater egress evaluations.

When the mission profile calls for the OEM’s higher-capability / next-gen CA-EBS framing (lightest/most compact form factor; 300 BAR / 4500 psi COPV), continue with MEER LW on this page. The relationship is a capability tier within the same mission class—not a cost or lifecycle-cost pitch.

What MEER is (OEM-public description)

Per Aqualung Military & Professional public product information for MEER LW:

  • Lightest and most compact CA-EBS in the OEM’s stated framing.
  • Next generation of egress technology.
  • Engineered and designed to operate in the toughest environments.
  • Optimized for ease of use in an emergency.
  • Color: Yellow (as listed on the public product page).
  • Public item numbers listed on the product page include EB002010 and EB002012 (confirm current SKU / kit contents before solicitation use).

High-capability architecture (why programs look at MEER)

Relative to the SEA workhorse lead, OEM-public MEER LW highlights a higher-capability architecture:

  • 300 BAR (4500 psi) working pressure class (OEM public).
  • COPV cylinder construction (lighter composite overwrapped vessel framing).
  • Lightweight aluminium first stage.
  • Compact / lightest CA-EBS positioning from the OEM.
  • Same broad mission class as SEA: compressed-air underwater egress—not altitude oxygen.

Use these points when a buyer needs more capability or a different architecture, not when pitching price or total cost of ownership.

SEA LW (232 BAR aluminium; public BS EN 4856:2018) remains an available current OEM SEA config; it is secondary to SEA 3000 LV2 as ESP’s lead.

MEER is not PHODS

MEER delivers emergency compressed air for egress. PHODS delivers supplemental oxygen for altitude operations. Linking the wrong system class to a mission profile is a safety and program error.

Lifecycle support — inspection, overhaul, cylinder requalification

Fielding MEER (or SEA) is only the start of program readiness. ESP supports lifecycle sustainment for Survival Egress Air / CA-EBS assets within approved service scope:

  • Receiving inspection and configuration identification
  • Scheduled inspection and maintenance pathways aligned to OEM factory service expectations
  • Overhaul coordination using genuine Aqualung parts and service kits where authorized
  • Supportability discussion for mixed SEA / MEER fleets
  • Cylinder requalification coordinated through approved channels

Training · Fill stations & GSE · Government procurement

Proper factory service of CA-EBS variants requires trained technicians and controlled procedures. ESP coordinates oxygen / breathing-system training pathways for ALSE shops and program teams within approved scope.

Oxygen / Breathing System Training

Compressed-air fill discipline, gauges, and ground support equipment matter as much as the end item—especially at 300 BAR / 4500 psi class hardware. ESP bridges CA-EBS program needs to fill-station and GSE support.
