PHODS—Portable Helicopter Oxygen Delivery System—is a man-mounted supplemental oxygen system for rotorcraft aircrew operating at altitudes where supplemental oxygen is required. Critical distinction — PHODS is not SEA / MEER / CA-EBS

Oxygen ≠ CA-EBS. Do not specify PHODS for underwater egress. Do not specify SEA/MEER for high-altitude oxygen. Many programs need both system classes as separate requirements—not one device doing both jobs.

  • PHODS M2 is a man-mounted oxygen delivery system that can attach directly to a crew member’s survival vest and helmet.
  • Designed to supply rotorcraft aircrews with supplementary oxygen when completing missions at altitudes above approximately 8,000 ft / 2,400 m.
  • A supplementary Mission Kit option expands use/duration by providing additional oxygen cylinders for in-mission cylinder change.

Mission Kit thinking

The Mission Kit concept matters for profiles where a single cylinder’s duration is insufficient. Program questions ESP can help frame include:

Maintenance & sustainment (aviation oxygen)

PHODS uses oxygen—different hazards, fill standards, and maintenance practices from CA-EBS compressed-air systems. Do not run PHODS work instructions against SEA/MEER assets, and do not assume CA-EBS air-fill equipment is appropriate for PHODS oxygen cylinders.
